Did you know Alba was one of the old names for Scotland? Actually the Kingdom of Alba only existed in theory rather than practice and has become known in more modern times only because Donald II (also known as Domnall mac Causantin) was described as King of Alba after his death.

The title seems to have died out after the death of Alexander III in 1286.
